Catchup

This month of August I was really looking forward to, as I now work as an Amazon delivery driver in Northwest Arkansas getting paid weekly. This month has 5 Fridays, so 5 paychecks! It’s always a rough time for me, whether self inflicted or situational, well I guess one could say it’s all self inflicted for all the times I spent my money on fast food instead of saving it, or “gooning” my free time away like so many of us.

August was going to be my first month since moving out of my friends house in March that I would finally be able to save money, I was speculating on as much as $1,000 saved or as low as $700. Up to this point I have struggled with retaining my money as I often spend it as fast as I would make it, I’ll get into some of those expenses later.

As it would turn out, my third week paycheck which I was looking forward to putting all away into my savings has vanished, as the company I was working delivering packages for Amazon went under, leaving all of its former employees without paychecks. Luckily for me, I was able to jump to another local company delivering paychecks for Amazon, and continue mostly uninterrupted except for that missing paycheck.

What happened to McDonald’s and Walmart?

I was fired from Walmart shortly after moving into my apartment, the reason due to my attendance. I was actually very surprised that I was fired, as my job was somewhat important, and often too overwhelming for new people. I was an overnight modular team member, basically my job was to set up shelves with product on them and move product or shelves based on Walmarts requirements. The work was constant, and fairly difficult to be honest, as we had to move quickly and be finished with our shelves by the end of our shift in the morning. You may not notice it, shopping at Walmart, but products are constantly shifting, they may stay in the same aisle, but a product may move up a shelf or down to the bottom, there is a constant bidding war on Walmarts shelves of companies trying to be front and center to the customers eyes as they shop, well performing products may be moved to a more optimal place while products that do not perform well, will be phased out over time.
