Thursday (The purpose of employees)

Business is like a machine, for the machine to work it must be continuously cranked. Currently I crank the handle, but to be honest I’m very inconsistent. I have spent more time trying to jump start this machine than actually smoothly cranking the handle. I need to make peace with the fact that I will be cranking this handle for a very long time, doing the mundane boring tasks that I absolutely hate, that propel the boat forward. These tasks are absolutely essential, they are the lifeblood of the business, an operational baseline must be established, and only then from that point can those in charge of the business focus on innovation, someone has to mindlessly turn the crank. Enter employees, once enough output is built up, an employee can be hired to turn the crank, then another and another, propelling the boat along even faster. This allowing me to focus on upgrading our engine, making it mite efficient, taking it from a clunky mechanical contraption belching dark plumes of smoke barely held together by duck tape and a prayer, to a smooth highly efficient plasma reactor that with a single crank outputs 1,000X over the former engine. So while the employees crank, we strategize where to take the business next.
